Narrative empathy is the sharing of feeling and perspective-taking induced by reading, viewing, hearing, or imagining narratives of another’s situation and condition. In this practical session, we will examine how short films and videos can be used to build narrative empathy, and raise awareness of social issues in the language classroom. We will explore a number of practical, generic activities which foster both oral and written communication.
