What is the right test option for you?

Test Centre or Online

If you're applying for a course that is degree level or above at a UK Higher Education
Institution (HEI), you can take LanguageCert Academic at a Test Centre or Online.

UKVI Test Centre

Choose LanguageCert Academic SELT at a UKVI Test Centre if you're applying for a
course that is:

  • Below degree level (for example a foundation, pathways or professional
    English course) and/or
  • Somewhere that is not a Higher Education Institution

Both test options have exactly the same format/content, but LanguageCert
Academic SELT at gives you a Unique Reference Number (URN) for your UK visa
application.
Please always check with your Higher Education Institution (HEI) to confirm
their specific English requirements.

Ireland

Study in Ireland

The Department of Justice in Ireland accepts LANGUAGECERT Academic as evidence of language proficiency for student visa applications. Please note that entry and proficiency requirements of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and individual departments may vary.

Additionally, the Department of Justice has added LANGUAGECERT Academic to the list of approved English proficiency tests for ILEP (Interim List of Eligible Programmes) providers. This is relevant for non-EEA students who wish to enrol in English-language programmes lasting at least 25 weeks.

North America
